RADIO VERONICA
De Groote Verwaring 31 March 1985

Ruud Hendrickx interviewed Lee Abrams, an American radio consultant from Atlanta, hired by Caroline to improve the station.

LA. I would say one of the functions is to make it a hybrid between the Top 40 and what we call over here album rock, which is more of a hard rock edge, and deliver consistency. That's an absolutely critical function to make sure that when you tune in you know what you're gonna' get... so I say consistency is really important.

RH. Isn't it difficult to get a DJ to stick to the format when they're not getting any money for the job?.

LA. Yes, that's one of the challenges of the situation, this certainly is going to be different like over here when the guy doesn't follow the format, you can always find somebody who can, but if they're not getting paid that will be an extra challenge. I'm looking forward to getting over there and spending time with them and explaining how great it can be if everybody is consistent and to take that one when it comes, but it will be a challenge.

RH. How long will it take before we can hear the results?

LA. I would think realistically about six months, if I was living over there, I'm sure we could get it happening quicker, but because I'm twelve hours away it probably will be about a six month job.
